Box Score The Moccasins battled through four sets with eighth-ranked Grand Valley State, but the Lakers prevailed in a close fourth set to take the match in the final contest of the FSC/Terrace Hotel Classic Saturday at Jenkins Field House. The outcome left both teams with 3-1 records.
Down two sets to one, the Moccasins had an early 13-11 lead in the fourth set, but fell behind 21-17. Trailing 24-21, the Moccasins rallied for three straight points to pull even at 24-24, but the Lakers were able to score three of the remaining four points to post the win.
Lauren Huber and Gabby Fernandez each had 10 kills to pace the FSC offense. Diana Castrillon just missed a double-double with nine kills and 11 digs.
Stacey Catalano led Grand Valley State with 21 kills.
Rollins won the other two matches Saturday, beating Shippensburg 25-16, 25-10, 25-21, and beating Grand Valley State, 27-25, 25-15, 25-19, to go 4-0 in the Terrace Hotel Classic.
The Moccasins travel to Denver next weekend to play in the Premier Challenge. Their first match Friday will send them against defending national champion and this season's top-ranked team, Concordia-St. Paul.
