Box Score A strong second half, led by Brett Bailey and Seth Evans, brought the Moccasins back from an eight-point halftime deficit to a 73-61 non-conference win over Palm Beach Atlantic Wednesday night at Jenkins Field House.
Shooting only 27 percent from the field in the first half, the Moccasins trailed the entire 20 minutes of the period and it wasn't until the 12:54 mark in the second half that the Moccasins took the lead for the first time at 46-44 on a three-pointer by Evans. Once they took the lead the Moccasins didn't give it up, going on a 16-5 run after Evans' basket to build their biggest lead, 62-49, with 7:58 remaining. The Sailfish never got closer than eight points the rest of the game.
Bailey notched his second straight double-double with a 21-point, 10-rebound effort. He had 15 points and seven rebounds in the second half. The double-double was his fourth of the season.
Evans, whose five field goals all were three-pointers, poured in 18 points, 12 in the second half. Kevin Capers and Dominic Lane each added 10 points.
The Moccasins (12-5) improved their shooting to 41.9 percent in the second half and finished the game shooting 33.8 percent, winning their fourth straight game. PBA (4-16) struggled in the second half, shooting just 25 percent (8-32), and finished the game at 32.8 percent.
Dante Valentine led the Sailfish with 17 points. Ian Sitz tossed in 14 and Terrell Terry tallied 12 points off the bench.
Saturday night at 7:30 at Jenkins Field House, the Moccasins play their biggest game of the season against Sunshine State Conference co-leader Rollins with a possible share of first place in the SSC at stake. FSC will come into the game with a 5-3 SSC record. Rollins beat Nova Southeastern Wednesday night to improve its league mark to 6-2. Florida Tech also is 6-2 and plays at Eckerd Saturday. Eckerd is tied with the Moccasins at 5-3. Rollins won the first meeting this season with the Moccasins, 84-78, at Rollins back on Dec. 3.
