It's back-to-back 20-win seasons for the Moccasins after Saturday's 73-62 Sunshine State Conference win over Lynn at Boca Raton.
After their 26-win season a year ago, the Moccasins go to 20-5 this season, as the win gives them back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since the 1999-00 and 2000-01 campaigns. In addition to achieving that milestone, the Moccasins also saw the battle for the top spot in the SSC get tighter, as first-place Rollins lost to Florida Tech, 78-72, dropping the Tars’ SSC record to 11-3. The Moccasins improved to 11-4 with their win and Barry is at 10-4 after beating Eckerd 63-62. Rollins plays at Barry Wednesday night.
In a game that was tied 10 times and saw 12 lead changes, the 24th-ranked Moccasins led Lynn by two at halftime and were able to maintain a narrow lead through the first 15:25 in the second half before pulling away in the final four minutes on the strength of an 11-2 run.
Megan Dzikas led a balanced Moccasin scoring effort with 19 points. Sofie Lundberg came off the bench and tossed in 15 points, including five three-pointers, as FSC matched its season high with 12 three-pointers in the game. SSC scoring leader Michaela Hawley and Taylor Maldonado each scored 13 points.  Hawley had a team-high eight rebounds to boost her career total to 707 and put her in ninth place on the FSC career rebounding list. Kira Harvey led Lynn (12-12, 7-7 SSC) with 20 points.
The Moccasins play their final regular season game Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Jenkins Field House against Tampa. FSC’s four seniors â€" Dzikas, Hawley, Lundberg and Danielle Walsh â€" will be recognized following the game.
