Box Score ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The sixth-ranked Florida Southern women's lacrosse team concluded its Saturday doubleheader with a 19-7 victory over Adams State in a neutral site contest, hosted by Lindenwood (Mo.) University at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium.
Twelve different players scored at least one goal for the Moccasins (11-2, 0-0 SSC), who never trailed and led by as much as 13 against the Grizzlies (0-3).
Freshman attack Meghan O'Brien (Rochester, N.Y.) led the Mocs with a career-high four goals, while seniors Megan Asper (Parkton, Md.) and Lorianne Hoover (Annapolis, Md.), redshirt sophomore Allie Kryjak (Potomac, Md.) and freshman Shannon Gilfedder (Longwood, Fla.) each scored twice.
Hoover also recorded game highs with four caused turnovers and four draw controls. She won the opening draw control and needed only 10 seconds to score the first goal of the game. Hoover made it 2-0 with a free position shot at 28:26.
Already leading 4-2, the Mocs closed the first half on a 9-2 run to carry a 13-4 at the half. O'Brien scored all four of her goals during the run. Her first two were both assisted by senior Caitlin Chase (Mt. Laurel, N.J.). Chase dished out a game-high three assists.
Adams State scored consecutive goals to cut the lead to four, but Gilfedder and O'Brien each scored a pair of goals inside the last 10 minutes of the half to make it a nine-goal advantage. Gilfedder, who finished with a career-high four points, also assisted on O'Brien's goal at the 2:58 mark.
Redshirt freshman Ashley Seborowski (Annapolis, Md.) started her ninth straight game in goal for the Mocs. She made a pair of saves in the first half to improve her record to 9-1 on the season. Sophomore Taylor Gillis (Bel Air, Md.) made a trio of saves in relief in the second half.
Kryjak scored her two goals 1:40 apart at 12:44 and 11:04 in the second half, the later putting FSC up 18-8. Freshman Ellie Schmidt (Collegeville, Pa.) scored on her only shot of the night to give the Mocs their largest lead, 19-6.
Florida Southern returns home to host No. 12 Rollins College (8-2, 1-0 SSC) in its first Sunshine State Conference game of the 2015 season on Friday, March 27 at 7 p.m. at Bryant Stadium.
