Nova Southeastern Pulls Away With Late Goal Scoring in Conference Opener for FSC

Box Score

DAVIE – Scoring three times in the span of eight minutes late in the second half, Nova Southeastern was able to take control of an otherwise close game and open Sunshine State Conference play with a 4-0 win over Florida Southern on Wednesday night.

After a lengthy delay at the outset due to inclement weather, Wednesday's match did not come to a conclusion until nearly 10:45, and it took the Sharks (3-1, 1-0) until the 80th minute to put it away with the late flurry. Up to that point, the only goal of the match had been scored on a rebounded shot by Filippo Mancini less than three minutes before halftime.

Mancini would later assist the second goal in the 80th minute, playing a long ball forward to Stefano Fanfoni, who crossed it in to Faycal Oulahbib, which resulted in a 2-0 lead for Nova. The Sharks then got two goals from Soma Gubasci in the final four-and-a-half minutes to finish the scoring against a Moccasin team playing two men down by that point.

Cole Clingerman made five saves in goal for Florida Southern, while Taylor Bailey made three for Nova Southeastern. The Sharks' goalkeeper saved shots by junior Jonathan Radvogin, and sophomores Kieran Whitehead and Romain Voirin.

Florida Southern will be at home on Saturday night when it hosts Palm Beach Atlantic in a match scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
