Box Score ST. PETERSBURG – With Eckerd scoring once in each half, and Alex Gott making a total of seven saves, the Tritons earned a 2-0 win over Florida Southern Wednesday night.
Eckerd (4-0-1, 1-0-1 Sunshine State Conference) received goals from Westleigh Rush in the 24th minute off a corner kick, and Matheus Assumpcao in the 66th. Even with those two goals, however, the Tritons managed just six shots in the game against a Florida Southern back line of Luke Bromley, Daniel Moore, Kevin Davidsson and Carl Spansk. It marked the second time this year the Moccasins have allowed fewer than 10, and the six shots were their fewest allowed since giving up four to Webber International in the first game of 2014.
Meanwhile, Florida Southern (1-5, 0-2 SSC) took 16 shots, with five of those coming from junior Jonathan Radvogin, and three more off the foot of sophomore Romain Voirin. Those two players forced Gott into five of his seven saves.
Junior Cole Clingerman had to make just two saves for the Moccasins.
Florida Southern will return to action on Saturday with a non-conference match at Shorter (GA). Game time is 2 p.m.
