Panthers Score at the Start of the Second Half to Deal FSC Women's Soccer Team 1-0 Setback on Saturday

MELBOURNE – Florida Tech's Mary Watson scored three minutes into the second half for the only goal in the game as the Panthers picked up a 1-0 win over Florida Southern in women's soccer Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Watson scored her first goal of the season exactly three minutes after halftime and was assisted by Aubri Williamson who notched her seventh assist.
  • Florida Southern junior goalkeeper Helena Norrstrom made nine saves while facing 25 shots.
  • Norrstrom had three of her saves in quick succession in the 43rd and 44th minutes that kept the game scoreless going into halftime. After three more saves early in the second half, she did not have to make any in the final 30 minutes.
  • Karlyn Prisco had five saves for Florida Tech in picking up her fifth shutout of the season.
  • Kylie Harris led the Moccasins with five shots in a reserve role. One of those was a header off a corner kick from Maegan Didden in the 88th minute that was saved by Prisco. Harris also hit the post in the 67th minute and had two more attempts immediately after that blocked.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The Moccasins have not given up more than two goals in any of their eight games this year, and have given up more than two only once in their last 21 games.
  • Norrstrom now has a 1.38 goals against average and 58 saves.
  • Saturday marked the second year in a row the game with Florida Tech has ended 1-0 in favor of the Panthers.
  • Six of Florida Southern's eight games this year have been decided by one goal or ended in a tie.

UP NEXT

  • Florida Southern will be at home for its next match on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. when it hosts Eckerd College in a non-conference game. It will be only the second home game of the season for the Moccasins.
