Box Score LAKELAND, FL - Camille Giardina scored a career-high 25 points, and Florida Southern College women's basketball held Auburn-Montgomery to just 29.4 percent from the floor in a dominant 97-38 victory on Saturday at Jenkins Field House.
The No. 16 Moccasins (7-3) held the Warhawks (1-12) to less than 12 points in each quarter to pick up a win on the final day of the Terrace Hotel Classic.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Florida Southern used a 15-4 run over the final six minutes of the first quarter to break an 8-8 tied and never trailed. Gianna Vastola's jumper with 1:15 to go in the opening period gave the Mocs their first double-digit lead of the game (21-10).
• After Auburn-Montgomery scored the first bucket of the second quarter to make it 21-14, the Moccasins ripped off a 12-0 run to take a commanding 33-14 lead. The Warhawks would scored just eight points in the second quarter, as Florida Southern took a 52-20 lead into the half.
• The Mocs also surrendered just eight points in the third quarter of action, and saw their lead swell to 53 points (81-28) by the end of the period. The Moccasins never led by less than 50 points the rest of the way.
• Florida Southern shot 59.0 percent (36-of-61) from the floor, including 8-of-15 from beyond the arc. The Mocs hit 17-of-23 free throws and held Auburn-Montgomery to just 29.4 percent (15-of-51) from the field. The Warhawks shot just 4-of-16 from long range and 4-of-9 at the charity stripe.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Florida Southern moved to 1-0 all-time against Auburn-Montgomery, and improved to 4-1 at home this season. The Mocs are now 408-147 all-time at Jenkins Field House, including 29-6 under head coach Betsy Harris. With the victory, Florida Southern is now 10-14 in games at the annual Terrace Hotel Classic.
• Camille Giardina's 25 points were a new career-high. She made 10-of-12 field goals, and went 4-of-5 from three-point range. She also dished out four assists.
• The 59-point margin of victory is the 10th-highest margin of victory in a home win, and the largest margin of victory overall since a 93-33 victory over Flagler on Dec. 9, 1986.
• In addition to Giardina, Anja Fuchs-Robetin (19), Anissa Toumi (12), Jensen Blassage (11), and Giulia Simioni (11) also scored in double figures. Toumi fell just shy of a double-double with a game-high nine rebounds.
• Florida Southern finished with a 34-14 edge in points in the paint, and outscored the Warhawks 20-7 in points off turnovers, and 16-2 on the fast break.

• Florida Southern will face Claflin at home at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19. The Moccasins are off for nearly two weeks before returning to Sunshine State Conference play against Tampa on Dec. 30.
