Fuchs-Robetin Powers Mocs Past Sailfish

WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Anja Fuchs-Robetin logged her first double-double of the season as Florida Southern College women's basketball topped Palm Beach Atlantic, 70-55, in Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday at Rubin Arena. The Moccasins (5-2, 3-0 SSC) overcame a two-point halftime deficit to earn their third-straight win against the Sailfish (3-5, 0-4).

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Florida Southern built an early 10-point lead on the strength of its defense, which held PBA to just 10 points in the first quarter. Camille Giardina nailed a three-pointer early in the second quarter to make it 20-10, but the Sailfish would battle back with 16-5 run and grabbed a 26-25 lead with 4:48 to go in the first half.
• Palm Beach Atlantic was able to push its lead to five points (30-25), before the Mocs scored five-straight to tie the game. PBA would hit a pair of free throws in the final 30 seconds to take a 32-30 lead into the locker room.
• The Sailfish pushed their lead to six points (38-32) in the early stages of the second half, but Florida Southern came back to tie things up and took a one-point lead (46-45) with just under two minutes to go in the third quarter, but PBA would hit a late free-throw to tie it up at 46 heading into the final period.
• The fourth and final quarter would be what made the difference in the game. The Moccasins outscored the Sailfish 24-9 over the final 10 minutes of action. Leading by just six points (59-53) with 4:49 to play, Florida Southern would reel off an 11-0 run to close out the contest and take home a win.
• The Mocs held the Sailfish to just 4-of-15 from the floor over the final 10 minutes of play. The Mocs went 6-of-9 from the floor in the fourth quarter, including 10-of-11 from the charity stripe.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Florida Southern improved to 19-2 against Palm Beach Atlantic, including 10-1 on the road. The Moccasins have won three-straight against the Sailfish.
• Anja Fuchs-Robetin finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds. She also added two assists and a block, and went 4-of-9 from the floor and 12-of-13 at the free-throw line.
• Jensen Blassage added 19 points on 7-of-9 from the floor, while Camille Giardina poured in 13 points. Gianna Vastola added 10 rebounds and Elsa Landberg finished with four assists.
• The Moccasins shot 37.5 percent (21-of-56) from the floor, including 7-of-14 from beyond the arc. Florida Southern hit 21-of-25 free throws, and finished with a 41-27 edge in rebounds.

UP NEXT
• Florida Southern squares off with Barry in a 5:30 p.m. home contest on Dec. 10. The game against Barry is the first of five-straight home games to close out the calendar year.
