Box Score LAKELAND – Palm Beach Atlantic scored one goal early in the game and added three more in the second half to post a 4-0 win over Florida Southern on Saturday night, moving the Moccasins' overall record to 3-2 and their conference record to 1-1. The Sailfish are now 3-2-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Palm Beach Atlantic scored the first goal 4:03 into the game but did not score again until the 57th minute.
- That early goal came on one of only five shots for the Sailfish in the first half, and then only after an initial shot by Lucas Coutinho was deflected to Clavijo
- The two sides combined for just nine shots between them in the first half.
- PBA scored its two second-half goals just 64 seconds apart in the 57th and 58th minutes. The first came from Cameron Roberts and the second one came from Charlie Dennis, though both were assisted by Kebba Nyang.
- The Sailfish did not have another shot until Fredo Dilbert scored in the 71st minute.
- The Sailfish finished with 14 shots to the Moccasins' eight.
- Hassirou Diakite, Joseph Ammer and Jacob Ling-Vannerus all had two shots apiece for the Moccasins, but the Sailfish had one player with almost half of theirs with Dennis taking six.
- Senior goalkeeper Cole Clingerman made four saves in the game and Elliott Barker made an equal number for the Sailfish.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Florida Southern still leads the all-time series with Palm Beach Atlantic, 16-6-3, though the Sailfish are 4-3-1 against the Moccasins in West Palm Beach.
- Palm Beach Atlantic was ranked #8 in the NSCAA South Region poll this week after starting the year at #5 in the national poll. The Sailfish have already faced two teams that were ranked #1 and #2 in the country at the time the games were played. They lost to top-ranked Pfeiffer and tied #2 Lynn.
- Freshmen Rene Rivera and Mikel Duque made their first appearances for the Moccasins, and Rivera played 36 minutes.
