LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Former Florida Southern College women's basketball standout
Emma Cannon '11 has re-signed with the Las Vegas Aces of the WNBA for the 2021 season. Cannon finished the 2020 campaign with the Aces, which included an appearance in the WNBA Finals. The announcement was made yesterday by Aces General Manager Dan Padover.
Cannon joined the Aces on September 9, 2020, just prior to the team's playoff run to the WNBA Finals. In six postseason games, she connected on 50.0 percent of her field goal attempts, averaging 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds.
She began her WNBA career with the Phoenix Mercury in 2017, playing in all 34 regular season games, averaging 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds, while making 49.1 percent of her shots. In 2018, she re-signed with the Mercury, but did not make the final roster. Likewise, in 2019, she participated in pre-season camp with the Connecticut Sun.
During her senior season with Florida Southern, she led the Mocs to a 26-5 record, winning both the Sunshine State Conference regular season and tournament championships. Southern would advance into the NCAA Tournament, where the Mocs finished as the Regional Runner-up. That year, Cannon led the team in both scoring (15.7 points per game) and rebounding (12.1).
