MILTON, Ga. - Adam Alvarez led the Florida Southern men's golf team on day one of the Southern Tide Invitational hosted by Limestone in Milton, Georgia. Alvarez posted back-to-back rounds of 1-under 71 as the men posted a total combined score of 589 (+13) to finish the first day in a tie for 13th.
Alvarez is currently sitting in a tie for 14th place, within 10 strokes of the overall leader. He will have his mind set on a high individual as he leads the Mocs into the final round of competition.
The next finisher for the Mocs was freshman,
Clay Tucker with a total combined score of 146. Tucker posted a solid first round of 4-over 76 followed by a stellar second round of 2-under 70. It was one of the best rounds of all competitors on day one as it elevated him an astounding 36 places to finish the day in a tie for 33rd place.
A few strokes back was senior,
Sam Rogers shooting a combined 148 after rounds of 73 (+1) and 75 (+3), finishing in a tie for 44th place.
Noah Kumar and
Johnny Tucker each finished the day tied for 83rd after shooting a two-round total of 155. Kumar shot an 80 in round one followed by a 75 in the final round on the day. Tucker finished round one with a 78 and finished the day with a 77 in the final round of the day.
The Mocs are back in action for round 3 tomorrow, October 25, as they look to close their fall season on a high note.
