DAYTONA BEACH, Fl -- In their second to last regular season game of the season, the Mocs bounced back after an out of conference loss, to win 2-0 over the Embry-Riddle Eagles.
The first half of the match saw Florida Southern (5-7-3, 4-4-1) spend a majority of their time in the Embry-Riddle (2-11-1, 1-7-1) offensive zone. As the Mocs put eight shots up against the Eagles defense. They also dominated several of the first half stats including not allowing a corner kick and whipping in two of their own. Mocs had a few scoring opportunities disallowed by offsides in the first half, but made up for it by only committing three fouls to the Eagles six.
The second half was much of the same story as it was on the mind of many when the Mocs would break through. That time would come on a corner kick in the 81st minute by Luca Bernoth that would find the head of defender Santiago Erazo to put the Mocs up 1-0. Bernoth would get his second assist of the game just two minutes later, as in the 83rd minute, forward Christoph Gums would score on a Bernoth assist to put the Mocs up 2-0 with just seven minutes to play. The Mocs put up 17 shots in the second half as well as six corners. Mars Gohier continued to play well as he was forced to only make two saves.
