SAINT LEO, Fla. - Mason Jones finished third at the NCAA Division II South Regional Championships hosted by Saint Leo at The Abbey Golf Course to earn an individual berth to the NCAA Division II Championships. He led the Mocs to a fifth-place team finish in the ten-kilometer race.
Jones set the pace early as he was leading through the 3k. He maintained his lead until roughly the 8k marker where he was overtaken by Shane Bracken of Saint Leo and Christian Noble of Lee. Jones' third-place finish, in a time of 31:47, earned him an individual berth to the NCAA Division II Championships, which will be at the same location.
Seniors
Mitchell Kozik and
Joshua Wagner were the next finishers for the Mocs as they closed out their collegiate country careers. Kozik finished 19th overall and posted his highest finish ever at the regional meet in a time of 32:39. Wagner was a few places back in the 22nd with a time of 32:43. Both men earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors.
Juniors
Bryson Yamnitz (33:31) and
Alex Guy (33:41) rounded out the scoring for the Mocs in 36th and 39th place, respectively.
Junior
Brady Zimmerman covered the course in 34:41 for 59th place. Rounding out the top 7 was
Noah Ellenback; in his first-ever regional meet, the sophomore finished 78th with a time of 35:29.
