BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-8 decision at Lynn University on Wednesday evening.
The Mocs are 1-6 on the season. Lynn is now 5-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Quarter
- Lynn got on the board first on a man-up goal by Jalen Stanton.
- Jeff Atlas would tied the game at 1-1 less than two minutes later.
- Maxwell Freestone would make four saves before the Fighting Knights would take a 2-1 lead with 5:17 remaining in the first quarter.
2nd Quarter
- Lynn went up 3-1 on a Caleb Wells goal just 1:25 into the second quarter.
- The Mocs' Justin Dunleavy would get the Mocs back within one as he made it 3-2 with 6:44 remaining in the first half.
3rd Quarter
- Kevin Horwitz would tie the game at 3-3 just 25 seconds into the second half.
- Over the next five minutes Lynn would fire off a total of eight shots as Freestone made four saves. The home team would then take a 5-3 lead in a span of 38 seconds.
- Florida Southern would tie the game at 5-5 as Carson Wallace and Edward May both would find the back of the next.
- The Fighting Knights would take a 6-5 lead in the final minute of the quarter.
4th Quarter
- Lynn would continue right where it left off in the third as they opened the final quarter on a 4-0 run.
- Ryan Gorecki would end the run as he pulled the Mocs within four, 10-6. Cody Bielec also found the back of the net as he capitalized on a man-up chance.
- Lynn would add three more goals to secure the win.
- Sean Nolan wouldn't let the Mocs go quite as he tallied a man-up goal off a feed from Dunleavy with 3:13 remaining in the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Freestone made 16 saves to 14 by Lynn.
- Atlas now has 114 points in his career at Florida Southern, on 46 goals and 68 assists through 29 games.
- Lynn fired off 53 shots which included 22 shots in the third quarter. Florida Southern totaled 37 shots.
