Mocs Baseball Drops Series Opener Against Nova Southeastern

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern baseball team dropped the opening game of a three-game series against the Nova Southeastern University Sharks, 11-7. The Mocs are now 13-11 overall and 12-10 in SSC play.

First baseman Jacob Teter didn't miss a beat as he went 4-for-5 in his return to the Mocs lineup. Teter blasted his 32nd career homer and fell a triple shy of recording the first FSC cycle since 2012. Seniors Vaun Brown and Zach Scott each added three hits for the Mocs, who totaled 15 hits on the evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Sharks jumped out to a 6-0 lead, scoring four runs in the first and adding two more in the second.
  • FSC got on the board in the third, as four Mocs crossed the plate. Left fielder Conner Berry smashed a bases clearing triple to left center, scoring Tilden Agee, Teter and Scott.
  • Nova Southeastern answered with three more runs in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run homer from Adan Hernandez.
  • The Mocs added two more runs in the fourth, as Teter hit his 32nd career homer, driving a 0-1 offering over the fence in left center.
  • Both teams would score one run in the sixth, as Teter came around to score his third run of the game.
  • Neither team would score in the last three innings giving the Sharks and 11-7 victory.
  • Mocs starter Nate Madej went 3.1 innings, allowing five earned runs while striking out three Sharks. Madej fell to 3-3 on the season with the loss.
