Box Score MONTEVALLO, ALA. - The Florida Southern College men's soccer team ended their Saturday matchup against Montevallo in a 2-2 draw at Varsity Field at the University of Montevallo. With the tie, the Mocs inherit a 0-0-2 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montevallo scored the first goal of the contest in the 26th minute when a Falcons forward got through the Florida Southern defense to the score on the Moccasin.
- The Mocs responded within 10 minutes when Christoph Gums found the net for a game-tying goal.
- The 1-1 score held until the 70th minute when Montevallo played a ball in the Moccasin net to make it 2-1. Shortly after Daniel Miranda connected with Leoluca Diefenbach to tie the game 2-2 with a Miranda goal.
- Defense prevailed in overtime, as neither team was able to tally a shot over 20 additional minutes. As the Mocs start the season with two overtime ties in Alabama.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The teams combined for a total of 31 shots 20 from the Falcons and 11 from the Mocs.
- Three Mocs come home with three yellow cards as Edu Capote received his in the second half and James Meehan and Jake Starling received theirs in OT in the 104th minute.
- FSC combined for a total of 10 fouls.
- Mars Gohier played the entire 110 minutes between the polls collecting 5 saves.
