FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Florida Southern volleyball team fell Saturday afternoon on the road at Nova Southeastern, 3-1. The Sharks and Mocs battled in a back-and-forth contest with the Sharks taking the opening set 25-17 before the Mocs won the second set by the same 25-17 score. The Sharks kept the see-saw going with a 25-20 third set win. The Mocs looked to keep the back-and-forth going and led 9-1 early in the fourth set but the Sharks rallied and won the set 26-24 to take the match.

The loss moves the Mocs' record to 13-11 overall and 6-8 in Sunshine State Conference action. The Sharks improved to 14-10 on the season and 7-7 in league action.

Mackenzie Petermann once again led the way for the Mocs in the match as she tallied 15 kills and eight digs. Senior
Ali Travis chipped in seven kills and 17 digs while classmate
Jana Gilic added six kills on 19 swings for a hitting percentage of .316. Gilic also led the team in service aces with two while adding two blocks including one solo.

Beatrice Formilan led the backline with 19 digs while serving up a pair of aces. Junior
Emily Crescenzi led the frontline with four blocks including one solo stop.

The Mocs hit .169 as a team over the match with a set-high of .333 in the second set. The Sharks compiled a .261 team hitting percentage including a high of .341 in the third set. NSU edged FSC in both blocks (8-6) and service aces (9-8).

Taylor Stockman led the Sharks with 17 kills while Kate Mihacevich added 15.

Florida Southern will be back in action at home this Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. versus Eckerd. The match will serve as the Mocs' Dig for Diabetes match.
