WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Florida Southern volleyball team played its second match in as many days as the Moccasins traveled to Palm Beach Atlantic Saturday afternoon for another Sunshine State Conference tilt. The Mocs took the opening set of the match but the Sailfish recovered to take the next three sets including a barn-burner fourth set in which they won 27-25 to take the match.

The loss drops Florida Southern's record to 8-7 overall and 3-5 in SSC action. The Sailfish improved to 9-7 overall and 4-5 in league play.

Junior
Mackenzie Petermann led the way for the Mocs as she was the lone hitter in double-figures with 15 kills. She added eight digs, a service ace and a block to her line. Senior
Ali Travis finished with eight kills, eight digs and a team-high tying three service aces. Graduate student
Emma Shaddix rounded out the top three with seven kills on 19 swings for a .368 hitting percentage. She also chipped in a team-high tying four blocks.

Mika Garza saw the majority of the action and finished with 26 assists and 11 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Graduate student libero
Beatrice Formilan finished one dig ahead of Garza to lead the team with 12.

Sophomore
Madison Fowler tied Shaddix for the team-lead in blocks with four while adding five kills.

Florida Southern took the opening set 25-16 before falling over the final three sets 25-17, 25-18 and 27-25.

Abbie Zylstra led the Sailfish with 14 kills while Kaileigh Ammons finished with 11.

Both teams finished with an above .200 hitting percentage as the Mocs turned in a .210 mark which was bested by PBA's .216. The Mocs won the blocking battle 10-5 while the Sailfish edged the Mocs at the service line with 11 aces compared to FSC's 10.

The Moccasins will be back in action this Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. as they host Rollins in a rescheduled match that was postponed due to Hurricane Ian. The match will serve as FSC's annual Dig Pink match so come wearing you favorite pink attire and support the Mocs.
