POMONA, Calif. – The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) has unveiled the D2CCA Men's Soccer All-America Teams to show Florida Southern College's
Henri Tophoven named to the All-America Second Team.
Tophoven is the first Moccasin named to the D2CCA All-America Teams and the fifth in program history to be named an All-American (Bill Currie -1961, John Haynes - 1965, Brian Bain - 1967, and Jim Dawsey - 1969). The forward from Brüggen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany was just one of two Sunshine State Conference student-athletes named to the All-America Teams as Eckerd College's Tommy Shepherd was awarded the third team.
"Henri was a fantastic addition to our roster this season," said head coach Ashley Holmes. "He was a great role model both on and off the field. We are proud of his achievements and excited to hopefully watch his career progress at the next level."
Tophoven was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA DII All-South Region, second team, yesterday and earned All-American honor after being selected to the D2CCA All-South First Team a few weeks ago. As well was named to the All-SSC First Team to end the season with a United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week, and three SSC Offensive Player of the Week honors during the 2022 season.
The graduate student transferred to Florida Southern College this season and led the team with 16 goals, and three assists in 56 shots. He also shot two hat tricks on the year, one winning Tophoven National Player of the week early in the season.
Communication professionals from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the three D2 CCA All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. A total of 39 student-athletes filled out the three teams. The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
A total of 39 student-athletes from 29 institutions are represented on the three All-America Teams in 2022.
