LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College men's basketball used a big first half to run away with the Sunshine State Conference matchup against Eckerd on Saturday night inside the Streamline Sale Arena at the George W. Jenkins Field House, 93-51.
"Great win, I am proud of the guys," Head Coach
Mike Donnelly stated. "We came ready to play, and that's what we emphasized coming into the game, just be ready to play and we got another big win."
Donnelly added, "We got off to a red hot start. I was happy we were able to play everybody, and I thought everyone played well, but we move on and we get ready for senior night on Wednesday against Embry-Riddle."
Jack Casale led Florida Southern with 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc in 24 minutes of action.
E.J. Dambreville added 17 points with four three-pointers while
Xavier Rhodes and
Jadin Booth each chipped in 10 points.
Florida Southern captured the season series over Eckerd, previously defeating the Tritons 66-63 on January 8. It's the second straight 90-plus point contest for the Moccasins.
The Mocs (14-13, 11-8 SSC) used a 40-0 run to climb out to a 39-point advantage in the first half.
Jack Casale propelled the Mocs with the first three three-pointers for FSC. The Mocs controlled the entire contest including heading into the halftime break up 48-15.
Eckerd (5-16, 3-15 SSC) would get to within 35 with seven minutes to play, but Florida Southern's advantage was too great as the Mocs went on for the 93-51 win.
