Mocs Minutes: FSC Basketball Welcomes in Lynn Saturday

  • Florida Southern The Mocs committed just five turnovers in their win at Rollins on Wednesday night, the first time that they've committed five or less in a game since February 17, 2016, defeating Tampa, 57-55. The team tacked on 20 assists in the win over Rollins, improving their assist-turnover ratio to 1.06, best in the conference and 35th in the country. The win over Rollins gives FSC their fourth consecutive win.
  • On the season, Julia Jenike is currently sixth in the country, and first in SSC with .458 3FG%. FSC is currently averaging 67.9 points per game while their opponents are averaging 61.5 points.
  • Whitney Jacob continues to lead the Mocs with 17.1 scoring followed by Julia Jenike with 15.5 for a double-digit scoring average.
  • Lynn had the day off on Wednesday, coming off a 17-point loss to Tampa last Saturday. Lynn, is currently in 8th place in the conference, would be the last team in for the SSC Tournament. Mocs are in sole possession of fourth place in conference and would host the first round of the tournament if the season ended today.
  • On the season, Lynn is shooting a .399 from the field and a .295 from beyond the arc. Uloma Enyogasi is leading the Fighting Knights averaging 11.3 points per game while averaging 6.5 boards.
  • Last time up, Mocs took their worst loss of the season on the road against the Fighting Knights with a 32-point loss in Boca Raton.
  • HISTORY:Florida Southern holds a 34-16 series lead heading into the 50th meeting between the Mocs and Fighting Knight. Florida Southern is 18-7 against Lynn at home, the most recent home matchup coming on Dec. 14, 2019, that saw the Moccasins fall to the Fighting Knights 77-67.

  • Florida Southern moved to an even .500 in league play after defeating Rollins 81-78 in Winter Park Wednesday night. The Moccasins saw E.J. Dambreville lead the team in scoring with 26 points on 9-of-19 shooting which featured five three-pointers. He hauled in eight rebounds, which finished behind Wes Bongiorni's team-high 11 boards. Bongiorni finished with 14 points to round out his double-double as Xavier Rhodes tallied 14 points, as well. Luke Anderson added 13 points in 28 minutes of action on the road.
  • On the season, the Mocs average 80.5 points per game (ppg) on 44-percent shooting from the field. Dambreville is the team leader in scoring at 14.5 ppg and is the leader in rebounds, two shy of 200 on the season, with 198 total for a 9.9 average. Rhodes is the second leading scorer with 13.8 ppg ahead of Jack Casale (12.7 ppg), and Tarik Mckelphin (12.1 ppg).
  • In conference play, Dambreville increases his average to 16.1 ppg and continues to lead the team in rebounding at 9.3 rpg. Rhodes remains second in scoring at 13.9 while Casale (11.8) and Mckelphin (11.4) follow suit. As a squad, FSC averages 80.6 ppg which is sixth in the league.
  • Lynn travels to Lakeland after a 66-65 heartbreaking loss to Tampa on Jan. 29. The Fighting Knights had the bye week Wednesday. In the loss to Tampa, all five starters scored in double-figures led by Christian Peevy with 13 points, where he also capped his double-double with 13 rebounds.
  • On the season, Lynn averages 78.1 ppg as a group and is led by Christian Peevy at 18.6 ppg. Brandon Bornelus joins in double-digits at 14.4 ppg while Tommie Luke and Branden Ellis trail at 9.8 ppg each.
  • In conference play, the Fighting Knights average 75.4 ppg, ninth in the SSC, where Lynn's defense holds opponents to a league low of 75.9. Three players average double-figures during league games with Peevy leading the way at 20.6, sixth in the league, Bornelus at 13.8 and Ellis at 11.1.
  • HISTORY: The Mocs hold a 44-15 overall record and are looking to sweep the regular season series after a 74-72 win on Dec 11, 2021 in Boca Raton. Florida Southern and Lynn traded points for most of the game with a buzzer beater layup made by Xavier Rhodes to give the Mocs the win. Rhodes led the Mocs with 23 points as the Fighting Knights had four players in double-digits. In games played in Lakeland, Florida Southern has a 22-7 advantage, which includes the last meeting on March 3, 2020 in an 97-80 win in the SSC Quarterfinals. The Mocs went on to win the conference championship on the road to a COVID- shortened NCAA Regional run.
