TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's tennis team competed in the Youth Tennis Foundation (YTF) Invitational this weekend hosted by the University of Tampa at the Naimoli & Young Complex.
The Mocs competed in the tournament against the University of Tampa, Saint Leo, and St. Petersburg College women teams.
In singles competition,
Olivia Bryant had two event wins as she beat her St. Petersburg College opponent 6-0, 6-1 and her Saint Leo opponent in a three-set tiebreaker. A third set battle against Savannah Williams from Tampa gave Bryant her only singles event loss of the meet.
Vivien Charvatova beat both of her opponents in a 6-2, 6-2 win over Tampa and 6-2, 6-0 win over St. Petersburg.
Other winners in the invitational included
Mathilda Vidgren in a 6-4, 6-4 decision over St. Petersburg, and
Minnie Kim in a 6-3, 6-2 win. Sophomore
Eve Robinson won her match (6-3, 4-6, 10-6) in a third-set contest against Robyn Hancock of St. Petersburg.
The Mocs continued to improve on their lineups and groupings as they competed well in the doubles competition. Team of Robinson and
Kelly Klaren (7-5) as well as
Flor Salerno and
Maxima Ellenberg (6-3) each defeated their St. Petersburg opponents. Pairing of
Laura Vetter and Vidgren beat both their Saint Leo (6-1) and Tampa (6-4) doubles competition.
