GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Southern equestrian team will send two athletes to the IHSA Zone 5 Championships on April 2^nd after a ninth-place overall finish on Sunday's regional championships hosted by the University of Florida.
 
The Mocs finished ninth overall out of 13 teams for the season, their highest placing in program history. Freshman Kailey Fuchs finished first in intermediate fences as the first qualifier for the zone championships. Sophomore Katie Portu finished second in the introductory flat event, as the other Moccasin to move onto zone championships.
 
Other finishes for the Mocs included senior Amy Clark who finished sixth in both limit flat and fences events. Junior Kayla Maxwell also competed and finished fourth in limit fences.
 
IHSA region five finals includes schools from all over Florida and parts of Georgia. To qualify for the zone finals, riders needed to place in the top two spots of their division to advance.
