LAKELAND, Fla. – A new season-high 21 hits for the Florida Southern College baseball team on their way to a 13-4 win over visiting Winona State Friday night at Henley Field.
The Mocs (10-6, 4-2 SSC) scored eight runs in the sixth, tying their season-high in a single inning, to take a commanding 12-2 lead. The Warriors (1-7, 0-0 NSIC) finished with eight hits in the loss.
Florida Southern traded hits in the first inning with the Warriors but no runs scored through the second inning. Winona State was first to score in the third as Beyer singled to get on base. An RBI double by Nick Herbst brought Beyer home and 1-0 lead into the bottom of the third. The Mocs responded with three runs on five hits to take the lead. Singles by

Ahmad Fitts brought Raffaele home on a single, with
Connor Berry the fifth hit of the evening on another RBI single and 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third.
The Warriors tallied one more run off two hits in the top of the fourth but left two on as
Justin Wit came in to relieve
Jack Gallo. Fitts tallied another RBI single in the fifth for a 4-2 lead before a big bottom of the sixth inning for the Moccasins. Florida Southern tied their season-high eight runs in the sixth, with the last string of runs against USC Aiken earlier in the season. The Mocs had eight hits in the sixth built by Maguire and Raffaele.
Jeff Liquori hit a 2 RBI triple which Chevalier and
Duncan Hunter each had a single. A hit that put Hunter to 14 straight games with a hit. Fitts earned his third hit of the night with another RBI single and Berry a single before a three-run homer by
Jared DeSantolo wrapped up the big inning and 12-2 lead for the Mocs.
Winona State had bases loaded situation in the top of the seventh and no outs as
Brien Johnston entered the game, but the Mocs escaped with just two runs scored against them.
Ryan Jenkins hit an RBI groundout in the bottom of the eighth for a comfortable 13-4 lead, which the Mocs held on for
Austen Kessler to finish out the ninth inning.

The Mocs will host a three-game series against Augustana, beginning with a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. and Sunday contest set for a 1 p.m. start at Historic Henley Field.
