Mocs Fall Short in Loss to West Florida on Senior Day

LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern men's tennis team celebrated senior day in their match against the University of West Florida Saturday morning. The Mocs fell to the Argonauts on Saturday morning with a 6-0 loss at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.

Prior to the match, the Mocs celebrated seniors Jacob Baehr, Valentin Hertweck, Nicholas Mora, Hikaru Nagoshi, Erik Nordblom, Brandon Pham, Brian Pham, Oscar Sohl, and Danny Thomas for their contributions to the Moccasin tennis program over the past four years.

Following the senior ceremony, the Mocs dropped the doubles point. Chris Fok Kow and Valentin Hertweck picked up the only doubles win for the Mocs on the day with a big 6-2 flight win.

In singles competition, the Mocs faced though competition throughout the six flights. Hertweck lost his flight in a close 7-6, 7-6 battle against No. 14 Cabrera as did Oscar Sohl against No. 21 Bermejo. Fok Kow, Elliott Altman, and Brandon Pham each lost in two sets. Erik Norblom nearly upset his opponent but lost in the third set tiebreaker. 

Following the loss, the Mocs fell to 10-7 to finish out the season and remain 2-5 in conference play.

The Mocs will begin the Sunshine State Conference Championship tournament against Saint Leo at 2:00 pm at the IMG Academy, hosted by Barry University.
