Mocs Fall to No. 1 Barry in SSC Quarterfinals

BRADENTON, Fla. - Florida Southern women's tennis team fell to the top ranked Barry University Buccaneers at the Sunshine State Conference Championship quarterfinals Friday morning with a 4-0 loss at IMG Academy.

The Mocs began the day falling in the doubles point as Barry's two top-5 ranked pairings took down the Moccasins. Mathilda Vidgren and Laura Vetter fell 2-6 to the number five ranked pairing of Madeline Bosnjack and Deniz Khazan; and Minnie Kim and Kelly Klaren fell 6-0 to the second ranked pairing of Kim Moosbacher and Daniela Farfan. Vivien Charvatova and Maxima Ellenberg were only down 3-4 when Barry clinched the doubles point to leave the match unfinished.

The Buccaneers clinched the win after three singles wins. No. 75 Vidgren battled the top player in Division II women's tennis at the one-seed of singles play. Vidgren could not outlast Khazan as she fell 0-6, 0-6 to put the Bucs up 2-0 on the day. Isabella Bolivar was the last to fall, as Daniela Farfan was up 6-0, 6-1 to put the Bucs through to the conference semifinals.
