#11 Women's Lacrosse Set to Host #14 Rollins Thursday for SSC Semifinals

Florida Southern College women's lacrosse, ranked no. 11 in the nation, is set to host Rollins College, the 16th ranked program in the country, Thursday, April 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Berend Field for the semifinal of the 2022 Sunshine State Conference Women's Lacrosse tournament.

Florida Southern finished the regular season at 13-3 overall with a 5-2 mark in Sunshine State Conference play and have appeared in the top-15 of every poll this season by Inside Lacrosse Women / Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. The Moccasins opened the year pre-season no. 7 and climbed to as high as no. 5 in the nation rankings in week six.
 
The Mocs are the league leaders in goals per game (18.06), assists per game (8.63), points per game (26.69), woman-up goals per game (1.94) and women-down goals per game (.44).
 
On the year, Hailey Daleo is the team leader in points (65) and goals (46) while she is third in assists (19). Abby McFerren is tied for the lead in points (65) and is the team leader in assists (29), while sitting in third in goals scored (36) on the year. In goal, Patricia Werker holds a 7-3 record with 572:00 minutes of action with a team best 84 saves on 269 shots faced. Brittany Iamele is 6-0 on the year with 38 saves on 108 shots with 300:59 minutes of action between the pipes for the Moccasins.
 
While at home, Florida Southern is 9-1 on the season with its lone loss coming back on Feb. 27 to then-no. 3 Queens (N.C.) and have won eight since including over then-no. 19 Mount Olive (21-7) and then-no. 15 Tampa (23-19).

Rollins finished the regular season at 13-3 overall with a 4-3 mark in the SSC and has been inside the top-15 of every poll this season by ILWomen/IWLCA. The Tars opened the year as the eight-ranked team in the preseason poll and climbed to as high as no. 6 after defeating Florida Southern.
 
The Tars are 5-2 on the road with both road losses coming to then-no. 25 Lynn (12-10) and Florida Tech (13-10).
 
On the year, Caroline Gastonguay is the team leader by far in points (74) where she holds a plus-10 goal advantage with 45 goals scored this season. She also leads the team in assists with 29, ahead of Abigail Cawley's 22. In goal, Rachel Schlesinger has started 15 of the 16 games with 904:01 minutes played holding a 12-3 record with 97 saves on 309 shots faced.  
 
Head-to-Head
Florida Southern holds a slight advantage in the series history, 9-7. Rollins has won the last three meetings including two regular-season matchups and the 2019 NCAA postseason. All four of the last matchups, the game has been decided by five or fewer goals.
 
Last Meeting
The three-time SSC tournament Champion Moccasins will look to get revenge on the Tars who won the regular-season matchup 16-12 on April 9 in Winter Park. Madison Tare led the way offensively for the Mocs with four goals while Lizzy Lynch added three herself. In goal, Patricia Werker tallied 10 saves in the full 60 minutes of action.
 
2022 SSC Tournament
The 2022 tournament is the first tournament post-COVID where Florida Southern looks to appear in the championship game for the sixth consecutive year, having won the tournament in 2016, 2017, and 2018 with Tampa winning 19-18 in OT in 2019.
 
Florida Southern holds an 8-2 record in the tournament with Tampa sitting at 2-3. Saint Leo, appearing in its first tournament since 2015, is 0-1 while Rollins is 3-4.
