#10 Women's Lacrosse Faces #1 Queens in NCAA Second Round

CHARLOTTE, Fla. – No. 10 Florida Southern Women's Lacrosse will take on host and No. 1 Queens (N.C.) in the Second Round of the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship Sunday at 12:00 p.m. at the Queens Sports Complex. Fans can tune into Sunday's game through the Queens Sports Network, with the first draw control expected at 12 p.m.
 
The Moccasins (16-3) defeated No. 19 Wingate 19-6 behind Abby McFerren and Brenna Smith's four-goal games. Patricia Werker earned the win in goal after playing the full 60 minutes with five saves. The Mocs held the Bulldogs' 16.72 goals per game average.
 
Queens (20-0) remains undefeated after knocking off No. 12 Tampa 16-13. Rebecca Kinsley paced the Royals with four goals ahead of Shannon Kingston's three-goal game. Caroline Kraemer started in goal and played 19 minutes before Sharn Muffett played the final 41 minutes and notched six saves in the win.
 
Sunday's regional final will showcase the nation's top two scoring offenses, with the Royals averaging 21.75 goals with the Mocs at 18.16.

Florida Southern holds an 8-2 all-time record against Queens, but the Royals have won the previous two meetings including the 2022 matchup which Queens won in Lakeland 12-9.
 
Kyleigh Masteran (#18) led all scorers with four goals in the game while five players, three from Queens and two from Florida Southern each tallied two goals. Shannon Kingston, Kaitlyn Hardin, and Rebecca Kinsley for the Royals notched two goals while Brenna Smith and Abby McFerren scored two for the Mocs.

Queens outscores its opponents 435 to 108 as the nation's top-scoring offense. This season, two players are over 100 points with Rebecca Kinsley leading the way with 126 points with 69 goals and 57 assists, just ahead of Kyleigh Masteran's 107 points with a team-best 86 goals and 21 assists. Kaitlyn Hardin is chasing the two leaders down with 93 points.
 
In goal, Sharn Muffett leads the pair of goalies in minutes played with 637:53 total minutes while recording 48 saves and a 9-0 record. Caroline Kraemer has played in 562:07 minutes and holds an 11-0 record with 57 saves between the pipes.

Florida Southern outscores its opponents 345 to 197 and is 16-3 entering the Sunday afternoon matchup. Hailey Daleo leads the Mocs with 78 points on 56 goals and 22 assists while Abby McFerren is sitting at 76 points with 44 goals and 32 assists.
 
Three other players are at 50 points or more for the season with Madison Tare in third on the team with 67 points (49 G, 18 A), ahead of Lizzy Lynch with 65 points (38 G, 27 A), and Brenna Smith with 50 (38 G, 12 A).
 
In goal, Patricia Werker is 10-3 and has played in 17 games this season for 722:46 minutes with 102 saves. She picked up five saves in the full 60 minutes between the pipes Friday. Brittany Iamele is 6-0 on the year with 330:13 minutes played and 40 saves for the Mocs.
