LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern volleyball team remained perfect on the young season with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Bloomfield College in the final match of the 2022 FSC Volleyball Classic. The Mocs came out firing in the opening set and never looked back as they posted their most dominant performance so far this season.

Florida Southern improved to 3-0 on the season while the Bears of Bloomfield fell to 0-4.

Junior
Mackenzie Petermann was once again the offensive force for Florida Southern as she posted a match-high 12 kills on 22 swings with no errors for an impressive .545 hitting percentage for the powerful outside hitter. Petermann chipped in seven digs and a pair of blocks to her total.

Senior
Ali Travis just missed out on double-figures with nine kills and eight digs. She had a .500 hitting percentage in the match while also chipping in a service ace and a solo block. Graduate student
Emma Shaddix added seven kills and a service ace.

Running the offense was once again senior
Mika Garza who handed out 31 assists while posting a pair of service aces. Graduate student libero
Beatrice Formilan dug up a team-best 11 balls while adding three service aces.

Freshman
Morgan Word led the way at the service line with five aces in just two sets of action. She added four kills and a block as well.

The Mocs dominated from the opening point of the match including posting 12 service aces while giving up just three. FSC also had another strong hitting performance finishing with a .337 percentage as a team including three individuals going at or above .500. The Mocs held the Bears to just a .194 hitting percentage including just .053 in the dominating 25-11 opening set.

Florida Southern swept the match 25-11, 25-21 and 25-18. The Mocs have now dropped just one set over three matches this season.

Bloomfield was led by Desiree Cruz who had a team-bets eight kills in the loss.

Florida Southern and Lynn each finished 3-0 at the 2022 FSC Volleyball Classic while Augusta and Lander went 1-2 followed by Bloomfield at 0-4.

The Mocs will next be in action Friday, Sept. 2 at 4 p.m. as they compete in their opening match of the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic hosted by the University of Alaska Fairbanks. FSC will take on Alaska Anchorage, Findlay, Black Hills State and the host Alaska Fairbanks over the two-day event.
