LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team opened the 2022-23 season with a meet against the University of Arkansas Saturday morning at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.
The Mocs competed in 11 events where the Razorbacks came away with the team win. Arkansas scored 121 points to Florida Southern's 77 in a great opportunity for the Mocs to compete against high-caliber NCAA Division I opponents.
After a hard-working summer, the Mocs had great performances throughout the meet.
Olivia Miles placed third in the 1000 free and
Elizabeth Sikes and
Allie Brinton took second and third respectively, in the 100 fly. Other top three performances included
Erin McCann and
Jazzy Hoffmann in the 100 free, and
Teagan Michalek and
Anya Bogdanova in the 100 back.
Competing mid-distance for the 500 free,
Maja Eriksson and Miles finished second and third with great times. In the 100 breast,
Alizee Pelletier and
Phoebe Reid took second and third. In the last event of the meet, Florida Southern competed in the 200 free relay for a great opportunity for several Mocs to earn great times.
Florida Southern will have its next meet at the Shark Invitational, hosted by Nova Southeastern, on Oct. 7-8 in Davis, Fla. with the men's team joining the women for its first meet.
