FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's swimming team battled 48-time defending NJCAA National Champion Indian River State College but lose 146-112 at the Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex.
The Mocs battled a very good NJCAA opponent and finish the day with six individual event wins and several other great podium finishes.
Florida Southern's day started with the 400 medley relay with a team of
Brandon Wilson,
Matteo Zampese,
Tristan Clanton, and
Cameron Lai-Harris in second.
Elder Oliveira (9:43.36) and
Thomas Wooldridge (9:45.45) finished second and third in the 1000 free in the following event.
The first Moccasin event win was with SSC Men's Swimmer of the Week
Keith Peristeridis, as he won the 200 free in a time of 1:40.92, as Wilson finished third in the 100 back. The second event win was Zampese in the 100 breast in 56.43 with
Ludwig Mueller in third with 58.38. Clanton was second in the 200 fly (1:53.09) with the third Moccasin event win in the 50 free by Lai-Harris in 21.27.
Zampese had another podium finish with third in the 100 free (46.70) with Wilson another second-place finish in the 200 back (1:54.88) and
William Eriksson third with at time of 1:59.84.
Nicko Peristeridis won the 200 breast in a time of 2:05.46 and Mueller finished third in the same event with a time of 2:08.06. K. Peristeridis had his second event win from the 500 free (4:30.74 and another B standard time), ahead of Oliveira in third with 4:47.81.
Wilson had a big event win in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.07 as Clanton (51.21) and Lai-Harris (51.46) went second and third in the 100 fly. Mocs finished the day with a second place in the 200 free relay.
The Mocs will have the regular season finale next Friday, Jan. 27, against Florida Tech on the road in Melbourne. The meet is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the Panther Aquatic Center.
