FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team lost 188-73 against 44-time defending NJCAA National Champion Indian River State College Friday afternoon at the Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex.
The Mocs continued to put in the work ahead of next month's Sunshine State Conference tournament with a tough opponent like IRSC. Florida Southern finished with several podium times and one individual event win by
Erin McCann.
McCann's event win came in the 200 free, finishing with a time of 1:53.97, having already set a B standard time earlier this season. In the first event of the day, a team of
Teagan Michalek,
Emily Peck,
Allie Brinton, and McCann finished second in the 400 medley relay as
Olivia Miles finished second in the 1000 free with a time of 10:39.86.
In the 100 back, Michalek finished second with a time of 1:01.82 with
Elizabeth Sikes second (2:08.34) and Brinton third (2:08.35) in the 200 fly. Peck had a second place finish in the 200 breast (2:26.79) as McCann (5:10.37) and Miles (5:15.09) went second and third, respectively, in the 500 free. Sikes (58.79) and Brinton (59.22) also took second and third in the 100 fly with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay to end the day.
The Mocs will have the regular season finale next Friday, Jan. 27, against Florida Tech on the road in Melbourne. The meet is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the Panther Aquatic Center.
