FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 19 Florida Southern College women's swimming team sits in fifth place after day one of the Shark Invitational, Friday night at the NSU Aquatic Center.
FSC finished the first day of events with 179 points as Tampa (427), Nova Southeastern (347), Florida Tech (237), and Lynn (200) were ahead in the team scoring.
Florida Southern started with the 200 medley relay, in which a team of
Teagan Michalek, Alizee Pelletier, Elizabeth Sikes, and
Jazzy Hoffmann finished eight with a time of 1:48.15. In the 1000 free, freshman
Ella Sieber had the best FSC finish with a time of 10:46.84 and sixth place. For the 200 IM, freshman
Ainsley Bennett finished in the top 10 with a time of 2:10.32. Representing the Mocs in the 50 free, Hoffmann had the best FSC time with 25.29.
Sikes finished fifth in the 100 fly in a time of 57.01 as
Vanda Voroshazy finished 10
th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:45.06. In the final individual event of the day, Bennett finished with another top 10 time in the 200 free (1:55.78). A team of Sikes, Bennett,
Phoebe Reid, and Hoffmann finished the 400 relay in 3:38.94 to end the day's events.
Mocs will wrap up the Shark Invitational tomorrow, Oct. 14, set for an 8:30 a.m. start at the NSU Aquatic Center.
