TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 19 Florida Southern women's swimming team took on Division I opponent Florida State University in addition to North Florida and West Florida Friday afternoon in a dual meet at the Morcom Aquatics Center.
The Mocs went head-to-head in points against each of the three opponents while competing side-by-side in each of the events. FSC ultimately lost to the Argos, Seminoles, and Ospreys in team scores but still competed very well against the top competition.
The meet opened with the 200 medley relay which a team of
Teagan Michalek, Alizee Pelletier, Elizabeth Sikes, and
Jazzy Hoffmann finished in a time of 1:49.88. For the 1000 free,
Ella Sieber had the best FSC time in 10:56.20 and
Vanda Voroshazy was the team's best in the 200 free with a time of 2:00.72. Michalek was the FSC top time in the 100 back (1:01.23), as Sikes finished second in the 200 fly (2:05.14), nearly topping her DI opponent.
Hoffmann had a 50 free time of 24.93 and took ninth overall in the 100 free with a time of 54.72. In the 200 back,
Anya Bogdanova finished 11
th overall in a time of 2:16.40, and Pelletier seventh overall in the 200 breast in 2:29.47. Other team bests were Sieber in the 500 free (5:21.84), Sikes in the 100 fly (57.27), and Bogdanova in the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.37.
The final event of the meet was the 200 free relay, in which a team of Hoffmann,
Phoebe Reid, Sikes, and
Kelsey Leaper finished eighth overall with a time of 1:41.03. Against the Mocs in team scores, West Florida won 202-54, North Florida won 147-77, and Florida State 209-47.
The Mocs will return to Lakeland to host the University of Tampa on Nov. 4, set for a 10 a.m. start at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.
