Moccasins Drop Conference Contest at Eckerd

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Florida Southern College volleyball team fell on the road Tuesday night as the Eckerd Tritons continued their strong season defeating the Moccasins 3-0. The Tritons have dropped just three matches all season and earned their 11th-straight victory with the win.
 
The loss drops Florida Southern's record to 14-9 overall and 7-7 in Sunshine State Conference play. The Tritons improved to 21-3 overall and 11-3 in league play.
 
Senior Mackenzie Petermann once again led the offensive attack for the Mocs as she added to her career total with a team-best 15 kills along with six digs and a pair of service aces. The Richmond Hill, Ga. native had just two hitting errors in the match while finishing with her second-best hitting percentage of the season at .520.
 
Junior Zoe Lowe, graduate student Elena Djokovic, junior Madison Fowler and junior Kiersten Kraus all tallied seven kills in the match. Lowe added four assists and a pair of digs. Djokovic had 15 digs while Fowler led the team with two blocks. Kraus dished out 14 assists and dug up 10 balls for another double-double, her 15th of the season.
 
Freshman setter Mary Kate Mulvaney handed out a team-best 21 assists while scooping up four digs. Senior libero Caroline Chambers added 11 digs from the backrow.
 
The Tritons escaped the opening set with an extra point win at 32-30. They then took the final two sets 25-20 and 25-23.
 
The Mocs hit .185 as a team while the Tritons turned in a mark of .289. FSC was unable to get the block game going finishing with just two in the match while the hosts spoiled nine FSC attacks.
 
FSC will be back in action this Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. on the road at Nova Southeastern.
