MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team sits in third place overall after day one at the Panther Invitational Friday at the Panther Aquatics Center.
The Mocs, receiving votes in the CSCAA Top 25 Poll, joined Indian River State College, St. Thomas University, Rollins College, Barry University, and the host of the invite, RV Florida Tech, in the three-day invitational that began this morning with three individual events.
Florida Southern had a great presence early with the 500 free prelims with
Olivia Miles leading the Mocs. Miles was joined by
Angelina Fazzino, Allie Brinton, Emily Peck, Emma Sammons, and
Anya Bogdanova in the evening finals. Miles went on to podium with a time of 5:03.60 and Fazzino in eighth with 5:13.34.
In the 200 IM, Mocs had
Vanda Voroshazy, Alizee Pelletier, Miles
, Brooke Brennan, and
Teagan Michalek make the evening finals. Voroshazy led the Mocs in the B final with a second-place finish in her consolation final in a time of 2:09.49. Miles finished in 2:11.38, also in the B final.
For the 50 free,
Jazzy Hoffmann, Elizabeth Sikes, and
Phoebe Reid made the finals as Hoffmann finished fifth in the A final in a time of 24.09. Sikes led the B final in a time of 24.27 and Reid in a time of 25.50 in the C final.
In relays, Mocs had a team of Michalek, Pelletier, Sikes, and Hoffmann finished third in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:50.26. The evening began with the 200 free relay which Hoffmann, Sikes, Reid, and Voroshazy finished sixth with a time of 1:38.18.
Mocs will have day two of three tomorrow, Nov. 18, at the Panther Aquatics Center with the prelims at 9 a.m. and finals beginning at 5 p.m.
