MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team remained in third place after day two at the Panther Invitational Saturday night at the Panther Aquatic Center.
The Mocs sit in third overall with 525 points with Florida Tech and Indian River State College ahead of them. A six-team field, St. Thomas University, Rollins, and Barry round out the remaining teams with one day of competition left to be finished tomorrow.
Florida Southern opened the evening finals with the 200 medley relay in which a team of
Teagan Michalek, Alizee Pelletier, Elizabeth Sikes, and
Jazzy Hoffmann finished third with a time of 1:44.92. For the first individual event of the evening,
Olivia Miles finished third in the 400 IM in a time of 4:30.47 ahead of teammate
Vanda Voroshazy in eighth with a time of 4:39.81.
FSC had two individual event wins on day two, the first as Pelletier won the 100 breast in a time of 1:03.23 ahead of her competition. In the next individual event of the evening finals, Michalek won the 100 back in a time of 58.04 to take first place with
Emily Peck in seventh of the A final.
The next best finish of the night was in the 100 fly which Sikes took second in a time of 55.96, as
Allie Brinton (57.20) and Michalek (58.47) also competed in the A final. Hoffmann represented the Mocs in the A final of the 200 free to finish seventh in 1:56.96 with
Angelina Fazzino the B final winner in 1:56.42. To end day two, Florida Southern had a team of Voroshazy, Fazzino, Sikes, and Hoffmann take second in the 800 free relay in 7:47.94.
Florida Southern will wrap up the Panther Invitational tomorrow, Nov. 19, with prelims beginning at 9 a.m. and the finals at 5 p.m. at the Panther Aquatic Center.
