MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team finished in third place at the Panther Invitational Sunday night at the Panther Aquatic Center.
The Mocs, who are receiving votes in the latest CSCAA Top 25 Poll, remained in third place the entire weekend and finished with 786.5 points ahead of Rollins College, St. Thomas University, and Barry University. Indian River State College won the invite with 1281.5 points and RV Florida Tech was in second with 835 points.
The final session of competition began with the A final grouping of 1650 free, in which
Olivia Miles finished second in 17:23.07.
Ella Sieber was right behind in third at 17:44.55. FSC had four swimmers in the A final as
Emma Sammons and
Angelina Fazzino finished in the top eight. For the 200 back,
Emily Peck led the Mocs with a fifth-place finish in 2:07.93 and
Teagan Michalek finished second in the B final in 2:10.82.
Another podium finish was
Jazzy Hoffmann in the 100 free with third in a time of 51.83 ahead of teammates
Phoebe Reid (53.11) and
Elizabeth Sikes (53.18) who also swam in the A final. The sole Moccasin in the A final for the 200 breast,
Alizee Pelletier finished second in a time of 2:20.34 and Sikes took third in the 200 fly in a time of 2:02.85, ahead of Sunshine State Conference competition. Earlier in the day during the prelims session, Sikes set a new program record in the 200 fly with a time of 2:01.96.
The final event of the three-day invite was the 400 free relay which a team of Hoffmann, Reid,
Vanda Voroshazy, and Sikes finished fourth with a time of 3:31.87.
The Mocs will return to Lakeland and host Indian River State College in a dual meet on Friday, Dec. 15, with a time to be determined at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.
