CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team opened the 2023 Sunshine State Conference Championships in the 800 free relay Wednesday night at the Long Center.
The Mocs finished in fifth place in the A Final with a time of 7:35.35 behind a team of
Erin McCann,
Maja Eriksson,
Angelina Fazzino, and
Olivia Miles. The podium winners for the 800 free was Nova Southeastern in first, with a Division II record 7:12.56, followed by Tampa and Lynn.
Florida Southern is third overall in points (40), behind Nova Southeastern in first with 58 points and Tampa is second with 48 points.
In the B heat of the 800 relay, Mocs finished third in their heat with a time of 7:49.77 by
Allie Brinton,
Emily Peck,
Janie Davis, and
Emma Sammons.
Tomorrow, Feb. 16, day two of the SSC Championship will begin with prelims at 10 a.m., and the finals taking place at 6 p.m., both at the Long Center in Clearwater, Fla. Tomorrow's events include the 200 IM, 50 free, 1000 free, and 200 medley relay.
