CLEARWATER, Fla. – The second day of the Sunshine State Conference Championships featured good performances by the Florida Southern College women's swimming team Thursday night at the Long Center.
Florida Southern sits in fifth place overall with 98 points as Nova Southeastern is first with 291, Tampa in second with 233, Lynn third with 133.5, and Rollins just ahead of the Mocs with 108.5 points.
The Mocs opened the day with the 1000 free finals where FSC went first and second in the consolation final.
Erin McCann led Moccasins with a time of 10:21.06 for ninth overall and
Olivia Miles was right behind with 10:21.41.
Emily Peck (2:08.40) and
Anya Bogdanova (2:09.17) competed in the 200 IM B final with sixth and eighth-place finishes respectively in their heat.
FSC finished the night with two relay teams taking on the 200 medley relay. In the B final, a team of Bogdanova,
Alizee Pelletier,
Janie Davis, and
Phoebe Reid finished 12
th overall with a time of 1:47.46. In the A final,
Teagan Michalek,
Emily Peck,
Allie Brinton, and
Elizabeth Sikes finished in 1:46.35.
Day three of the SSC Championships begins with prelims tomorrow, Feb. 17, at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m. both at the Long Center in Clearwater. Tomorrow's events include the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, and 400 medley relay.
