CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team moved into fourth place overall after day four of competition at the Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships Saturday night at the Long Center.
The Mocs moved ahead of Rollins with today's events with 303 points. Nova Southeastern remains in first with 788 points, with Tampa in second with 610 points, and Lynn with 335.5 points.
FSC's day was highlighted by
Allie Brinton breaking her own school record by 0.01 seconds in the A final of the 200 fly. Brinton set the new record in 2:03.98 and a B standard time to finish seventh in the final.
Elizabeth Sikes was eighth in the same heat with a B standard time of 2:04.55.
The 500 free began the finals for tonight, which
Erin McCann and
Maja Eriksson earned B standard times for seventh and eighth in the A final. McCann finished with a time of 4:58.59 and Eriksson with a time of 4:59.18.
Olivia Miles set a B standard time of 5:03.10, good for fifth in the consolation final of the 500 free.
Teagan Michalek took on the 100 back in the B final with a time of 57.28 and second in her heat.
Alizee Pelletier finished fifth and a B standard time of 1:03.83 in the 100 breast, as Florida Southern had three represented in the B final of the 100 breast.
Emily Peck led the B final for the Mocs with 1:04.90,
Brooke Brennan with 1:06.39, and
Phoebe Reid with 1:06.87.
Saturday finals ended with the 200 free relay with a team of Reid, Eriksson, Brennan, and Sikes in seventh (1:37.41) in the A final, with Michalek,
Emma Sammons,
Janie Davis, and Pelletier in a tie for fourth in the B final with a time of 1:38.50.
The SSC Championships come to a close with tomorrow's events of the 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast, 1650 free, and the 400 free relay. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. with the finals starting at 5 p.m. at the Long Center in Clearwater, Fla.
