Mocs Just Short of Upset Against #12 Lynn at Home

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's tennis team nearly staged an upset of No. 12 Lynn University Monday afternoon but fell 4-2 in the shortened match at Wynee Warden Tennis Center.

The Mocs (1-1, 0-1 SSC) won the doubles point and took many courts to the distance, but were unable to hold the lead. The Fighting Knights (1-0, 1-0 SSC) won the conference bout in their season opener with one court left unfinished.

In doubles, Florida Southern looked solid with wins on courts 1 and 2, before the third court went unfished with doubles point secured. Chris Fok Kow, recently announced as the SSC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, paired with Matteo Feggi for a 6-3 win as Danny Thomas and Inaki Braun Simo won 6-4. The match pairing of Mario Garoz and Ryan Rajakar went unfinished with Mocs leading 5-3 at the stop.

In singles, the Fighting Knights recovered with a win on court one against Fok Kow in two sets. FSC retook the lead with a big win on court 6 by Feggi 6-4, 7-5, but that would be the last court win by the Mocs. Garoz and Braun Simo lost in three sets after a split opening sets. John Gidefjord lost his set in two and Alex Fascio's court went unfinished with the Lynn win secured.
