LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 24 Florida Southern College men's tennis team earned a big conference win over Palm Beach Atlantic University Saturday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Mocs improved to 13-4 overall with the win and their second conference victory of the season. The Sailfish fell to 1-12 overall with the loss against the Mocs.
Florida Southern won the doubles point with two court wins on the day.
Mario Garoz and
Ryan Rajakar outlasted their opponents with a big 7-5 win on the #2 court. A speedy win at #3 for
John Gidefjord and
Danny Thomas won 6-0 and a doubles point was secured.
Chris Fok Kow and
Matteo Feggi had a tough loss at the #1 court by a 4-6 score.
In singles, Mocs had a great overall performance with four court wins. Fok Kow continued his great run in singles with two set wins, along with
Inaki Braun Simo at the #2 court. Garoz continued his success on the day in singles with a court three win in two sets.
Elliott Altman was the last court win for the Mocs in two sets. Mocs had three set tiebreaks go in favor of the Sailfish for Gidefjord and
Alex Fascio.
The Mocs will take on No. 5 West Alabama on Monday, March 27, set for a 2 p.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
