LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 18 Florida Southern College women's tennis team tallied another conference win with a 5-2 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic University Saturday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Mocs improved to 12-3 overall with the win and their third conference of the season. The Sailfish fell to 5-11 overall with the loss against the Mocs.
Florida Southern won the doubles point with a sweep of the field, beginning with a 6-1 win at #3 for
Kennedi Brown and
Kelly Klaren. Olivia Bryant and
Maxima Ellenberg teamed up for a 6-3 win at the No. 2 court and a 6-4 win for
Laia Pasini and
Laura Vetter finalized the sweep of the competition.
In singles, Mocs had a successful round of flights led by Pasini at #1 with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Bryant, ranked 50
th in singles competition, had a big 6-3, 6-2 win at the #3 court, and
Isabella Bolivar had a 6-3, 6-0 win at #5. Brown rounded out the Moccasin court victories with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Ellenberg was unable to win at #4 and Vetter a three-set loss to No. 72 Hoermann at the #2 court.
The Mocs will take on No. 3 Saint Leo on Thursday, March 30, set for a 3 p.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
