  • Florida Southern will take on top-25 Rollins College on the road this afternoon in a midweek matchup as a nonconference bout. Mocs are fresh off a series win against Saint Leo on the road. FSC had a big game one with four homers, including two from Ryan Magdic for a 10-7 win to open the series. Mocs took game two with a 5-3 win in a late surge of scoring to secure the series win. A back-and-forth battle for game three went to 11 innings as the Lions walked off in the bottom half of the 11th to avoid the Moccasin sweep.
  • Bats have come alive for the Mocs as they improved their batting average to .317 overall, led by Bryce Safferwich with a .391 average. FSC has six others batting above .300 as Drew Cavanaugh continues to light it up and has a team-high nine homers, second-best in the conference. Relying on the deep ball, Mocs have 52 home runs (sixth among DII programs), averaging 1.93 a game for third-best in the nation. FSC is top 30 in NCAA DII in other categories including hits (16th), slugging percentage (16th), strikeouts per nine innings (19th), and triples (30th).
  • On the mound, Mocs have a team 5.30 ERA and a .276 opposing batting average. Moccasin starters continue to rack up wins as Nathan Madej leads with five on the year and Aric McAtee, and Jordan Fox with three each. Madej leads the team with 59 strikeouts this year. FSC has continued to improve in their relieving pitchers as Justin Wit, Kerry Wright, and Andrew Williamson have great appearances with closer Collin Camarigg with four saves on the year.
  • No. 21 Rollins will host Florida Southern in a midweek game on a four-game win streak after a weekend sweep of Barry University. A close matchup against the Buccaneers, registering votes in the latest NCBWA poll, as the Tars won 5-3, 5-4, and 12-4 over the weekend. Parker Smith had two homers in the final game, and three total in the series. Game two against the Bucs had a unique ending as Barry came from behind to tie the game in the top of the ninth and the Tars had bases loaded with two outs before a hit by pitch won the game for Rollins.
  • The Tars have several in top categories among the conference, including Joey Rubin tied for first with runs scored (35) and Jeslyn Whitehead is second in total hits (43). Smith leads the conference in home runs with 12 on the year. As a team, Rollins has a .306 batting average and Jack Herring leads with a .400 average although just 45 at-bats. On the mound, the team has a 4.10 ERA, and starter Nick Berger leads the SSC with a 0.79 ERA.
  • HISTORY: The Mocs have a 154-82 overall record against the Tars in a storied history dating back to 1957. Last year, FSC upset the Tars in a 2-1 series win while the Tars were ranked 10th in the nation at the time. A low-scoring affair, Mocs won 2-1, 2-1, and a 6-10 loss in that series. Last matchup, however, was a midweek game on April 20, 2022, with a 5-13 Moccasin loss.
