LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College Athletic Training office has announced the addition of two athletic trainers, Kyleigh Kulka and Mike Persohn, to start the 2026-27 academic year.
 
Kulka will be the trainer for beach volleyball, men's and women's swimming, and volleyball. Persohn, whose role with the FSC athletic training staff is provided by Lakeland Regional Health, will be providing coverage for men's soccer and men's and women's cross country and track.
 
"We're excited to welcome Kyleigh and Mike to our athletic training team," said Reginald Mungrue, Head Athletic Trainer sponsored by Lakeland Regional Health. "They each bring valuable experience, a passion for student-athlete care, and will be great additions to our department. We're excited to have them join the Moccasin family."
 
As part of the additions to the athletic training staff, Florida Southern College shares a partnership with Lakeland Regional Health in the continued support and well-being of student-athletes. The FSC staff will partner with the LRH sports medicine team, which includes orthopedic surgeons, primary care sports medicine physicians, concussion specialists, certified athletic trainers, and sports-trained physical therapists.
 
Kulka joined the Florida Southern College athletic training staff after earning her Master of Science in Athletic Training from the University of North Florida. She received her bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology with minors in Sports Medicine and Psychological Science from the University of Lynchburg.
 
During her graduate clinical experiences, Kulka worked with a variety of collegiate, high school, and professional athletic programs, including the University of North Florida beach volleyball team, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Mandarin High School, Duncan U. Fletcher High School, and the Jacksonville Jaguars during organized team activities and game days. She also gained valuable clinical experience as a Patient Service Technician at Brooks Rehabilitation.
 
Kulka is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and holds certifications in CPR/AED, Basic Life Support (BLS), Youth Mental Health First Aid, Stop the Bleed, and Naloxone training.
 
Persohn joined the Florida Southern College athletic training staff with nearly 30 years of experience in sports medicine, athletic training, and rehabilitation across the collegiate, high school, hospital, and industrial settings. His addition to the Mocs is in association with a partnership between Florida Southern and Lakeland Regional Health in a commitment to the health and safety of Moccasin student-athletes. 
 
Most recently, Persohn served as a Health and Wellness Specialist with Athletic Training Solutions, managing injury care, rehabilitation, and workplace wellness programs. He also worked with Aultman Health Foundation, providing athletic training services for Malone University women's sports and GlenOak High School.
 
Prior to those roles, Persohn spent more than a decade with East Liverpool City Hospital, where he helped establish and manage the hospital's sports medicine program and expanded athletic training outreach to local high schools. He also spent 17 years with the Ohio Sports and Spine Institute, providing physical therapy and athletic training services.
 
Persohn earned his degree in Sports Medicine from Ohio Northern University and is a certified athletic trainer with multiple emergency care certifications.
