LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team will travel to Indianapolis this week for the NCAA National Championships March 7-11 at the Indiana University Natatorium.

Florida Southern, ranked 18
th in the latest CSCAA poll, will send five qualifiers to Indianapolis after last year's top-30 finish at the national stage. Mocs finished fourth overall at this year's Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships with two school records broken over the week's events. FSC will send
Allie Brinton,
Erin McCann,
Olivia Miles,
Emily Peck, and
Elizabeth Sikes.
The Mocs qualifiers are seasoned with NCAA experience with all but the freshman Sikes, present at last year's national championship. FSC will take part in six individual events ranging from distance to fly to breast and with the travel party, be able to participate in relays during the four-day competition.
2023 Qualifiers
Allie Brinton
Brinton will take part in her third consecutive NCAA championship after participating in relays last season and the 200 fly her freshman season. This year, Brinton qualified in the 200 fly with a 2:03.98 entry time, which she set at the SSC Championships and broke her own school record by 0.01 seconds. The junior from Jacksonville, Fla. has competed in the 2021 national 200 fly prelims and took part in relays last year as one of a few Moccasins with years of experience on the national stage. In addition to her time in the pool, Brinton has won the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award, CSCAA Scholar All-America, and a two-time SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient.
Erin McCann
McCann will take part in her second consecutive NCAA appearance after participating in the 800 free relay and the 200 free in last season's championship. Mocs earned an Honorable Mention All-America in the 800 free relay in part to McCann's speedy leg split and was recently named Second Team All-SSC as the only Moccasin represented on the all-conference awards. This season, she qualified in the 1650 free and 200 free at next week's NCAA tournament and had a team-high 48 points at the SSC Championships. McCann qualified in the 200 free with a 1:49.87 entry time and a 17:08.87 time in the mile swim (which led to a fourth-place finish at the SSC Championship). The Decatur, Ala. native also won the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award and CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team selection.
Olivia Miles
Miles will take part in her second NCAA appearance after last season's 1000 free and 1650 free individual performances as a freshman. Taking part in the 800 free relay last year, Miles was named Honorable Mention All-America and won last year's 1000 free SSC title. This season, Miles qualified in the 400 IM after a 4:26.74 fourth-place finish at the SSC Championships. In her second season with the Mocs, Miles has won the SSC Swimmer of the Week once, CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team selection, and last season's D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award.
Emily Peck
Peck will return to nationals after last season's appearance in the 200 breast as she qualified yet again for the event. The All-SSC Second Team member in last season's awards, Peck qualified with a 2:19.06 finish at the SSC Championships, where she finished fourth in the A final. In her career, the junior from Nicholasville, Ky. has been named CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team last year and is a two-time SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll and D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award recipient.
Elizabeth Sikes
Sikes will take part in her first NCAA final as a freshman joining Brinton and qualifying in the 200 fly. The newcomer from Boca Raton, Fla. has excelled in her first season with the Mocs and finished eighth in the 200 fly at the SSC Championships with her NCAA qualifying time of 2:04.55. Despite being the only Moccasin without NCAA experience, she is surrounded by a team of veterans, including many who also appeared at the NCAA finals as a freshman.
FSC in the NCAA Tournament
The Mocs have competed in the NCAA Championships 11 times, dating back to 2009-10, when the team finished in a tie for 34th place. Most recently, the Mocs finished 26
th overall at the 2021-22 national championships, the best finish for head coach
Andy Robins and the best overall finish for the women's team since the 2018 finals. Florida Southern women have placed in the top 10 four times with a sixth-place finish in 2012-13 their best NCAA finish to date. Mary O'Sullivan won two NCAA championships in her FSC career, finishing first in the 200 free and 200 back at the 2011 NCAA Finals. Alli Crenshaw, the SSC Swimmer of the Decade, won three total NCAA Championships, defending her 1000 free in 2013 and 2014, with a 2013 title in the 1650.
