BRADENTON, Fla. – The No. 25 Florida Southern College men's tennis team lost 4-3 to No. 13 Rollins College in the Sunshine State Conference Championship Quarterfinals at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
The Mocs (15-9) took the match to the final moments but were unable to win the final court in the conference tournament loss. The Tars (16-5) won the doubles point and outlasted Florida Southern for the match win. Rollins will advance to play Barry tomorrow morning.
Doubles competition had a battle as Rollins took court one early over No. 9
Chris Fok Kow and
Matteo Feggi.
Inaki Braun Simo and
Danny Thomas were tied 6-6 on court 3 before court two went to the Tars with a 7-5 win over
Mario Garoz and
Ryan Rajakar to clinch the point.
FSC recovered in singles with court wins by Garoz in two sets and
John Gidefjord in two sets.
Elliott Altman won in three sets in thrilling fashion to bring the score even at three with two Rollins court wins. The final decider game was down to court #4 as
Alex Fascio lost the first set but responded with a set-two win. Rollins would win the third set for the match win 4-3 to advance to the semifinals.
