BRADENTON, Fla. – The No. 19 Florida Southern College women's tennis fell by a score of 4-0 against No. 3 Saint Leo in the Sunshine State Conference Quarterfinals Thursday afternoon at the IMG Academy Tennis Courts.
The Mocs (13-6) dropped the doubles competition and were unable to earn a court win to stay in the match. The Lions (19-4) won doubles point and took over in singles to win the match and advance to the semifinals to play Barry tomorrow afternoon.
Florida Southern lost court #3 but rallied with a 6-1 court #2 win by
Vivien Charvatova and
Neli Sunjic. The point decider went to the #1 court as
Laia Pasini and
Laura Vetter were unable to rally for the 6-4 loss.
In singles, the Mocs were unable to get a court win as three courts went to Saint Leo for the clinched match.
Olivia Bryant nearly won her first set but lost in the tiebreak, as did
Kennedi Brown with a set one loss in tiebreak.
Isabella Bolivar gave a strong fight at #4 court with a set one loss but did get a 6-4 set two win. With the match clinched, Saint Leo won 4-0 and the rest of the courts unfinished.
The Mocs will await postseason news with the NCAA Regional Selection Show on Monday, April 24, set for a 8:30 p.m. start on NCAA.com
